Hobart 3×3 Big Hustle State Championships A “Great Success”

Last weekend’s NBL 3×3 Big Hustle State Championships Hobart was a “great success” according to tournament director Brad Kann.

Over 300 players competed in the event which was ran across male and female genders and age groups ranging from under 11 to U35 masters.

“It was a great success and a great tournament and a great response from everyone in the South,” Kann said, via the Hobart Mercury.

Kann believes Basketball Tasmania is leading the way for 3×3 basketball in Australia, and it has received a positive reaction.

“They are shorter and faster games, so you don’t have to play for as long and you have more touches of the basketball and more opportunity for players with two less players than regular basketball,” Kann said.

“We are leading the way for it in Australia because we’ve just had such a great response and a lot of people seem to be onboard with the 3×3.”

Played in Hobart, last weekend’s tournament was the first leg of three in the Tasmanian 3×3 Big Hustle State Championships.

The second tournament will be played on December 14th and 15th in North West Tasmania, and the third and final tournament will be played in January/February 2020 (dates TBC) in Launceston.

Winners of each tournament will qualify through to the 2020 3x3Hustle National Championship to be held in March.

There will also be an aggregate winner of the combined three tournaments, who will qualify through to the 2020 3x3Hustle National Championship.
