3×3 Street Hustle Offers Once In A Lifetime Opportunity At Boomers v USA Basketball

The NBL 3×3 Street Hustle will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity at basketball’s biggest stage next month when it opens for the Australian Boomers vs USA Basketball game at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

In conjunction with TEG Live and Basketball Australia, the NBL will host the finals of the 3×3 Street Hustle event on the Marvel Stadium court at 11:30am AEST on Saturday August 24.

It means participants of all ages could play on the same floor just hours before the Boomers take on USA Basketball in game two of their pre-FIBA World Cup series.

The preliminary 3×3 Street Hustle games will take place a week before the Boomers vs USA Basketball game on August 17-18 at The District Docklands shopping centre in Melbourne. The semi-final winners of that event will advance to the finals at Marvel Stadium.

The NBL 3×3 Street Hustle will be involved throughout the 2019 International Basketball Series, being presented by TEG Live and Basketball Australia, with events also scheduled before international games in both Perth and Sydney.

On August 10, a 3×3 Street Hustle will be played in Perth, with the semi-final winners of that event to play on RAC Arena before the Boomers vs Canada game on August 17.

On August 25, a 3×3 Street Hustle will be played in Sydney, with the semi-final winners of that event to play on Qudos Bank Arena before the USA Basketball vs Canada game on August 26.

The finalists of all events will receive tickets to the 2019 International Basketball Series game they will be playing before.

NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger said: “Taking 3×3 Street Hustle to this year’s International Basketball Series gives rising young players an opportunity to experience 3×3 at the biggest basketball events ever staged in Australia.

“2019 has been a bumper year for 3×3 basketball, with the Australian men and women winning gold at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup and the women finishing fourth at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup.

“The game is growing at a rapid rate and being involved in the 2019 International Basketball Series is another big step forward for NBL 3x3Hustle.”

Venues for the preliminary Street Hustle events in Perth and Sydney are yet to be announced. The 3×3 Street Hustle finals at RAC Arena will start at 3:00pm local time, with the 3×3 Street Hustle finals at Qudos Bank Arena to start at 5:00pm local time.

All of the 3×3 Street Hustles will be open to men and women in under 14, under 16, under 18 and open age groups. Teams can register HERE.

Registration is $250 per team, which includes a NBL 3×3 Street Hustle playing jersey.

3×3 basketball will make its Olympic debut at Tokyo next year and at the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
