Melbourne iAthletic Granted Wildcard For FIBA3x3 Challenger

Melbourne iAthletic will hit the FIBA3x3 world stage again this weekend, after receiving a last minute wildcard entry to the Chooks to Go FIBA3x3 Manilla Challenger.

Longtime iAthletic player Andrew Steel will lead the squad, with Australian 3×3 Asia Cup gold medallist Greg Hire, former Perth Wildcat Earnest Ross and SBL player Lee Roberts rounding out the team.

The Chooks to Go Manilla Challenger tips off on Saturday September 7, with the finals to be played on Sunday September 8. The schedule will be released in the coming days.

Challenger events serve as play-in tournaments for World Tour Master events, with the Chooks to Go Manilla Challenger a pathway towards making the Jeddah Masters in October.

3×3 basketball will make its debut as an Olympic sport in 2020 and a Commonwealth Games sport in 2022.
